A Dassault Mirage 2000N of the Armee de l'Air (French Air Force), based at Luxeuil, crashed while on a low level night training mission.
The aircraft disappeared from radar screens at 21.20hrs local time on Tuesday 1st March, a search and rescue mission was launched but it was hampered by bad weather.
The search resumed on Wednesday morning and wreckage was found 20km east of Felletin. Human remains were also found at the crash site.
An investigation is being conducted by the Bureau Enquetes Accidents Defense - Air to determine the circumstances of the accident.
